Family, Dogs, and RV’s

This past weekend, my family got together to go camp at Copperfield Park, Oxbow, Oregon. The park is put together on multiple tiers and excellent grounds and amenities for the campers. With excessive heat, the need for shade was very necessary and the park has plenty of trees for most of the sites. The sites available are; pull-through with plenty of room for an extra vehicle or boat, back in, or tent camping. Our family had three trailers and let me say, not all trailers are created equally! The two larger and newer trailers had air conditioning and provided much needed comfort during the heat of the day. The smaller trailer, mine, could have doubled for a sauna. Comfort came via the wet towel and self-created fanning. Our family likes to eat meals together, so we combined resources and enjoyed some simple but excellent meals. The family barbeque seems to work to provide hot dogs, hamburgers, pork chops and vegetables that taste better when eating outside.

Both of my sons have two dogs in their family and we have one. The combination included three very small dogs and two larger breeds, a black lab and a staffordshire bull terrier. You would think the dog that would love the water the most would be the lab, but in this case the bull terrier discovered and loved spending time in the water. My grandsons also loved the water for both swimming and fishing. All three, ages 4,5 and 6, caught fish and enjoyed the challenges of fishing from the boat. There were many bass available for the catch, using just about anything that wiggled under the water. There are many game fish in the Snake River and plenty of opportunity from the water or the bank on either the Oregon or Idaho side. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments…until next time.
