Why not spend a few exciting days in the coastal city of Bari in the region of Apulia on your next vacation to Italy?
The city is divided into two main quarters. The old town, called ‘Bari vecchia’, is situated on the peninsula jutting out to sea with harbours on both sides. The Murat quarter is the grid system modern section of the city.
Tourists can enjoy a day of exploration around the old quarter of Bari where there are some magnificent old buildings. Be sure to walk around the majestic Basilica of Saint Nicholas which was founded back in 1087! Also worth a look around is the large cathedral of Bari (in the picture). An architectural feat, designed and built in true Byzantine style, is a wonderful sight to behold. The relics of Saint Sabinus are buried here.
